Bathing Beauty Finished

I'm such a bag blogger! It has been a few days again. But I have more pictures to share, so thats a good thing.

A while ago I finished the stitchery for this tote. I finally sat and put it all together. And I'm proud to say that I didn't sew anything inside-out. All the seams are hidden, the handles are on the outside. Amazing! I used upholstery fabric and quilted it. And there is a lining. The stitchery is a pocket too. I just know that she is going to love this!

For Christmas there is usually one gift that I really plan and just know is the "perfect" gift. This year it is this tote to my Aunt. I wish I could see her when she opens it, but she lives in Washington and I'm in New York. Opposite coasts.

This is the same Aunt that will be getting the latest CQ angel. Which is basically done. I just have to attach the wings. Since I told her over the summer she was getting one, she won't be surprised about that. Then again, she knows me quite well. She just might be surprised that I actually finished it!

Bathing Beauty

Bathing Beauty

I'm still here... trying to keep myself busy and out of trouble. I've been working on some small stitcheries. This one called "Bathing Beauty" was the first one I did. My Aunt will be swimming again to help her back. Isn't this the perfect thing to add to the front of a tote. It is sitting on my sewing machine table just waiting for me to sew it all together. I just have to think it through "before" I start. Of course there is the option of following a pattern. Unfortunately I know me, and I wouldn't follow it anyway! Even though I know I will get frustrated at some point, I do enjoy making things as I go along. Hopefully it won't be too long before I have a picture of a tote bag to post!

If that doesn't link you can "copy and paste" to get there. But be warned, they are cute!!

I can honestly say that I never get bored! I might get bored with a certain project but there are so many things to keep my hands busy! This is a picture of my lastest project. This picture was found on a free online coloring book. I simplified the picture and used a varigated blue DMC floss. My "plan" ( as if I ever really stick to what I plan anyway) was to make this one block and use scrappy blue squares and make a small wallhanging. Well, it was so cute and fast that I made another one. (Picture to follow) Now I'm on my third one. Perhaps it will turn into a four block wall hanging! We shall see.

Snowman Stitchery Wallhanging

Snowman Wallhanging
Originally uploaded by sewquilty.

Isn't this a cute little wallhanging. Since it is cold here in NY I was finally motivated to finish this. I'm not too sure where I got the pattern from but I think I just googled snowman coloring page or something like that. I used three seed beads for the berries with the holly leaves on the snowman's hat. All the stitching is done with 2 ply embroidery floss. The finished size is 10 by 11 1/2.
This is now hanging where the scarecrow wallhanging was. I'm going to have to come up with something to replace this for the spring. I would love to have something with hearts for Valentines Day but am sure I wouldn't finish it in time.
Tomorrow I will have some sitting time in the Dr. office so I need to have some small stitching to keep me occupied. Off to google bunnies and tulips!

Scarecrow stitchery

Scarecrow stitchery

Look at this cute little scarecrow. This was a free design found here: http://www.fiodameada.com.br/graficos.asp This scarecrow is #13. I guess I will make a little wallhanging out of this. We shall see!
I have been enjoying baseball again this year. "Lets go Mets" . Anyway, it is great to do handwork while watching baseball. If you miss something worthwhile they do replays! Many years ago I always did some crocheting and this year I've done handwork.

Unfortunately summer is over now. Time to clean out the garden and hopefully remember what I thought needed moving! I picked up a few spring bulbs and I found a few loose ones laying in the dirt. I guess the squirrells were having fun!!

There is another baseball game tonight. I have to get something ready to work on tonight. Wonder what will catch my eye today....
